Episode 36: Socialization
Yes, we're tackling one of the hot button issues in homeschooling: socialization. We talk about what socialization is, what it isn't, and why it ruffles homeschool moms' feathers when questioned. Our biggest goal in this episode is to break down what we think people really mean by, "How are you going to socialize your children?" and whether it should be a valid concern for homeschooling families.

Socialization
Many people have a negative idea that homeschoolers are anti-social, “weird,” or socially awkward. While some homeschoolers may be those things, so are public schooled children. Many homeschooled children also have amazing social skills, understand social norms and are “normal” - whatever that means.
We think many people just misunderstand homeschooling and think those families tend to isolate themselves and their children. We dive into detail breaking down these misunderstandings and stereotypes to see how socialization really isn’t a big challenge for homeschoolers.
